Michael Clark

Senior Vice President, Chief Merchandising Officer

With over 35 years of extensive merchandising experience, Michael Clark joined True Value Company as senior vice president and chief merchandising officer in May 2008.

In this role, Clark focuses on generating profitable sales through product assortments, global sourcing, procurement and retail pricing programs designed to benefit the co-op and its geographically diverse members. Clark's team drives nearly $2 billion in annual product sales.

Prior to True Value, Clark served as senior vice president and general merchandising manager at Orchard Supply Hardware, Sears' 85-store hardware chain subsidiary. In this position, he led a 40-person strong merchandising team and was responsible for all buying decisions, visual merchandising and inventory management. During his eight years at Orchard Supply, Clark worked with powerful national brands such as Black and Decker, Sherwin Williams and Rubbermaid.

The son of a retailer, Clark began his career at Sears where he served in various corporate positions, including national logistics manager and vice president and general merchandise manager from 1993 - 2000. During his 25 years at Sears, Clark managed buying and retail replenishment for the $2.5 billion tools, paint and plumbing business and was responsible for major product brands including Kenmore, Easy Living and Weatherbeater. Clark also directed Craftsman branding activities and launched ''Tool Territory,'' a new tool department in retail stores.

Outside of his role at True Value, Clark is active in a number of community and professional associations. He serves as a member of the Home Improvement Industry President's Council and on the executive council of the City of Hope Cancer Center, an organization dedicated to preventing and curing cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
