Carol Wentworth

Vice President, Marketing

As vice president of marketing, Carol Wentworth provides marketing leadership to drive retailer and company business growth. She leads brand strategy; segmentation; national, local and regional marketing; trade shows; and research and analytics. In addition, she is responsible for a wide range of programs and initiatives, including True Value's award-winning customer loyalty program, True Value Rewards, True Value's circular program and retail customer experience metrics.

Wentworth, who joined True Value Company in 2002, brings more than 25 years of retail marketing and advertising experience to the organization. Under her leadership the True Value brand was re-positioned to drive awareness which has increased 80 percent since the national brand-building launch in spring 2006. Most recently she guided the research and branding behind the company's new store format, Destination True Value.

Prior to True Value, Wentworth served as vice president of sales promotion and marketing for Portland, Ore.-based Fred Meyer, a $5.3 billion retailer with specialties in apparel, home fashion, hardware, consumer electronics, fine jewelry and food. In this role, she developed, managed and launched new brands that generated more than $100 million in new sales.

Wentworth launched her marketing career at Campbell-Mithun-Esty Advertising, a national advertising agency in Chicago, where she worked on The Kroger Co. account. Previously she was an assistant store manager for Bread & Circus Supermarkets, a specialty natural foods retailer in Boston, and began her retail career as a store manager for Northampton Food Cooperative in Northampton, Mass.

Wentworth earned a bachelor of arts degree in English literature from Smith College and a master's in business administration from the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management. She is also a graduate of the University of Southern California's School of Business Food Industry Management Program. Wentworth sits on the board of directors for Member Insurance Agency and serves on the Advisory Committee of the Global Retail Marketing Association.
